Dear Alliance Prayer Partners,
God is good! All the time! We’ve experienced His goodness in these 40 days as we’ve been seeking Him in prayer. We live in a dark and messy world. I’m writing this on the heels of another mass shooting in our country. We carry out our lives in a culture where wrong is right and right is wrong. Dire problems exist all around us, but where are those who can solve them? We don’t find hope by looking around but by looking up. The closing words of Jesus’ modeled prayer are, “For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” (Matt. 6:13b or footnote depending on your Bible version).
Hope is not to be found in the kingdoms of this world. It is only found in the Kingdom of God. While we cling to the transformational power of the gospel to change one life at a time, the sin-cursed mess of this world will only be cleaned up and set in order when our Lord and King, Jesus Christ, returns. Then He will set up His one-thousand-year millennial reign during which He will be seated on the throne and reign in righteousness and peace. Then He will reign over His eternal Kingdom as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We pray with hope when we pray, “Even so, come Lord Jesus!”
