As we've studied the early church in Acts chapters 1-4, we've seen breathtaking examples of the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of the first Christ followers. In spite of persecution from non believers, the church grew in amazing ways with thousands coming to saving faith in Jesus.
But today, we read an account that takes us by surprise and is a chilling reminder that sin can easily and quickly seep into the church. Today's scripture focuses on an attack from within the church in the form of hypocrisy and what God did to stop it. We learn about three characteristics of hyprocrisy and are challenged to examine ourselves, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any hypocrisy in our lives, then to confess and ask God's forgiveness.
