In our last study of Nehemiah, the physical wall of Jerusalem was complete. Now the focus shifted to the spiritual renewal of the people of Israel. The Bible had been read aloud to the people and the Holy Spirit convicted them of their disobedience and the need to turn away from sin and towards their God. Several weeks have passed since that initial reading of the Word of God and now they began to gain a fuller understanding of sin, how their thinking about right and wrong had been wrongly shaped by the culture they lived in, and the need for true repentance. You will quickly see how their struggles are similar to ours as we attempt to live a life pleasing to God in the midst of today's world.
