Earlier in this chapter the Apostles, arrested for proclaiming the Gospel, were jailed but were miraculously released during the night by an angel. They immediately went to the temple and continued proclaiming Jesus as the long awaited Messiah. The apostles were made to appear again before the Jewish leaders. When questioned, they said they must obey God, not man. The Jewish leaders were so furious, they wanted to kill the Apostles! But Gamaliel, a respected Jew, addressed the leaders, encouraging them to take a NEUTRAL stand, saying that if the Apostles' message was not of God, it would fail. He wouldn't take a stand.

When presented with the truth of the Gospel, there is no middle ground. Either we STAND for Jesus and accept Him as the Messiah, or we reject and defy. There is no MIDDLE GROUND.
