The ancient city of Ninevah (today's Mosul) was a sinful, wicked place in the time of Jonah. Even as Jonah obeyed God's command to warn the people of their wickedness and urgent need to repent, deep inside he wanted to see the Ninevites destroyed for their evilness. However, then as now, God can forgive the most sinful person if they truly repent and turn to Him. That is exactly what God did with the people of Ninevah. All lost people matter to God and, because Jesus paid the price for our sinfulness, we - regardless of our disobedient past - can be forgiven!.
