As we continue the account of Jonah's life, we find he's been thrown overboard by sailors as a last resort to calm the life-threatening storm. It is at this point, that Jonah stopped running from God and began to pray - he confessed his disobedience, repented and cried, "my salvation comes from God alone." Sometimes, God allows us to reach a point of helplessness before we cry out to Him for help. From this account of Jonah's life, we learn three amazing things about God and His attitude towards us when we sin and cry out to Him to save us.
