How do you view wicked, sinful people? Does Jesus see them any differently? In today's text we'll see how Jesus views them. Jesus and His disciples have reached an area called the Gerasenes where a violent, wild, demon possessed man approached them. This wretched man rushed Jesus and we observe 3 forces at work in this man's life. First, what Satan, our enemy, purposes when someone is in his grip - to steal, kill and destroy those who yield to their sin. Second, the force of society which was treating him as a wild animal and was helpless to tame this man who was terrorized by Satan. Third, Jesus graciously comes to this man in love, converses with him, and treated him with love and respect. He sought him out to save him. Satan tried to destroy him but Jesus, by the power of His Word, to saves him. How did members of the community respond? They begged Jesus to leave. So He left. Jesus does not stay where He is not wanted. And what became of the man whose life was transformed? Jesus never gives up on the wicked - no one is beyond His reach!
