Today, we hear Jesus's words to the last of the seven churches of Asia - the church in Laodicea. Jesus speaks His truth about the reality of their fallen spiritual condition. Jesus says that He knows who they really are and that they are neither cold nor hot in their devotion to Him. Because they are lukewarm, He says He will spit them out of His mouth unless they confess, ask His forgiveness, and pray for the Holy Spirit to fan the flame of passionate devotion to Him. 

What are you to learn from Jesus's words? That you must pray for Him to show you where you are in your walk with Christ. For Him to show you where you are lacking and confess that as sin. And to ask His forgiveness and for Him, through His Holy Spirit, to set us on fire!
