After only 52 days, the rebuilding of the 2 1/2 mile physical wall around Jerusalem was complete! This is amazing especially since Nehemiah was faced with opposition from the very beginning - intimidation, lies, threats, personal attacks and slander. But now that the work was complete, peace would surely prevail and great things would immediately begin in the city. Wrong! The attacks continued. Why, because any time God's people do God's work in God's way, the enemy will oppose. We again learn from Nehemiah's example. He recognized the battle was a spiritual one. And how did he keep his perspective correct - God first - in spite of success?
