Why do we call the Friday before Easter Sunday "Good" Friday? As terrible as the events of that day were, they marked the culmination of God's redemptive plan for sinful man and the heralding of the Good News of deliverance! At the moment most humans would curse out their enemies, Jesus prayed for their forgiveness. Such a display of divine mercy! We, like those present that day, are as culpable for Jesus's suffering as they were that day in history.
Jesus's plea for mercy and forgiveness at the height of HIs agony were a plea for those there to place their faith in Him. Have you experienced His mercy and forgiveness? Have you admitted your sin and come to Him with a repentant heart?
