Today, we hear Jesus' words through the Apostle John to the third of seven churches of Asia - the Church in Pergamum. The believers in that pagan city had a very difficult life as they experienced persecution from the Roman government for their refusal to bow down to the Emperor and the Empire and declare them as God. They were beleaguered and besieged followers of Christ living in a deceived city. The pull to return to their pagan roots was strong, but Jesus commanded them to hold fast to two truths above all and refuse to COMPROMISE! What are those truths? They are revealed in today's message.
