Appearances can be deceiving. Sadly,  "churchgoers" and the "churches" can have the appearance  of being spiritual but under the surface they are like the Laodicean church Jesus describes in Revelation 3: 14-22.  "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other! So because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Comfortable , complacent, and apathetic with a false assessment of their own spiritual state,  their lifestyle rejected a need and reverance for God. Things were going well and fulfilling God's purpose and plan for their lives dropped way down on their priority list. 

This was also happening in Jerusalem at the time of Nehemiah. We will see how God led Nehemiah to rebuild, restore, and renew what was spiritually broken. And we will apply these lessons individually and as a church body to fulfill God's plan and purpose for our lives!
